Dilemmas

So many dilemmas right now!

Firstly, I'm being tempted by the more toned down sweet of Baby, The Stars Shine Bright and Alice And The Pirates. I still prefer Angelic Pretty, but I feel the other pieces would get more wear and be more age appropriate. So I don't know what to do! I can't buy any new pieces once I start paying rent again, so I'd have to part with my dear AP pieces in order to buy them. Since I don't own any AATP and own very little BTSSB it'd be a huge risk! Plus I've had huge issues finding any of those brands on auction sites, and when I do they are more expensive than AP...Although to throw a curveball, AP has been releasing more mature prints recently but they are IMPOSSIBLE to get your hands on unless you have a good few hundred quid to throw away on a dress.

or

So what do you guys think? Which style would suit me better, and how do the qualities of the brands compare?

My second dilemma...Reading again. I was supposed to be going with my other half, but he kept saying 'don't buy tickets yet' and now they've gone and sold out. I can probably still get one, but I'd have to go on my own. Pretty much all the acts I want to see are on the Sunday, but travelling up for just one day would be really stressful and I would probably have to hang around until 5am to get a train back (and being a different day means my train price would go up), so in that respect doing the whole weekend would be easier. Or I could just not go and hope that Muse's set is televised, but I'd probably regret not going. But if I do go and it rains, I won't be able to see out of my glasses...and my eyes are sensitive to dust. And I'm 5ft2 so I won't be able to see anything anyway. GAH.

My final dilemma. Don't know whether to move out as soon as I can! My mum is doing my head in and I can't do anything I'd like to as she shouts and glares at me so I have no choice but to sit on my ass doing nothing all the time. But if I move out I can't work and so I won't earn any money and thus won't be able to eat.

Yeah my dilemmas are stupid, but I'd appreciate any input!

Lolita 30 ~ Day 30 ~ End

Day 30 – A photo of yourself taken today and 3 good things that have happened over the last 30 days.

Sorry, my webcam doesn't work D= so this one from yesterday will have to do!

1 - Meeting other lolitas. Really makes me feel like I'm part of something special as opposed to just a frilly weirdo.

2 - Seeing Foo Fighters! (Was that within the last 30 days?) It reignited my love for music.

3 - Seeing Kanon Wakeshima! Meeting her was great, but seeing her perform was just incredible.

Pictures of me with Kanon =D

Apologies for the delay in posting about Hyper Japan! I've written up about the whole weekend but my photos are still stuck on Rob's camera. If I don't get the pictures within the next few days, I'll post them up bare or just using pictures I find elsewhere.

Hyper Japan, 2011 ~ Day One

Yes I know, late post is late...but it took a while to sort out my photos! I still haven't managed to get the photos for the other days yet as they're stuck on the camera. Also if you click an image, larger versions/original source will appear =3 (need to change my layout so larger photos look okay).

Last weekend I had my first experience of a convention! I really had no idea what to expect, and in the morning I was grumpy from having to get up early and my suitcase was MASSIVE and would barely close as I hadn't realised how much space lolita outfits take up. Travel was a bit of a nightmare too. Our bus into town got held up as a Sainsbury's lorry crashed through a wall on the main route to town, so we had to wait a while before reversing all the way down the hill and taking the long route, resulting in us missing the train we were supposed to get. Thankfully we had general off-peak tickets so we didn't have to fork out any more money! Trains were fine and so was the tube, but we took a while to find the hotel we were staying at (even though it was right under our nose the whole time!)

Once we'd ditched our luggage there it was off to the convention! I was a bit freaked out at first as there were so many people there and I hadn't expected it to be like that. We arrived some time after 1 I think, so we had a little wander before I headed to watch the talk show with Kanon Wakeshima (Rob wasn't interested in it, I don't even know what he was doing at that point). Her voice was so cute, and outfit so beautiful! I was a little offended though as she said that anyone who wears the clothes but doesn't live the lifestyle isn't a real lolita, but over here it's more that the clothes make the lolita (or at least you can't be considered one without the clothing). But I don't want to get too much into the lifestyle/fashion debate...or at least not today!

I also dropped off some things to sell at the Lolita Bring and Buy stall...it was great to see so many lolitas and so many items for sale. I also finally met Chrissii for the first time!

Afterwards it was soon time for the tea party with Kanon Wakeshima! I was a little nervous as I didn't know any of the other lolitas and they all seemed to know each other, but I met some lovely people. I'd also worried that my outfit wasn't good enough as I was dressed casually for travel in a rather toned-down mix of lolita and fairy-kei. I didn't get a photo and I haven't been able to find a full one of me yet (there must be some, when we were waiting to enter the cafe loads of randomers papped us), just this one from the tea party.

I was wearing Angelic Pretty's Dream Sky skirt and barrette with Asiajam tee, Hello KittyXNike sneakers, BTSSB bag, Hello Kitty necklace and cupcake earrings from Claire's, Primark legwarmers and offbrand tights. Need moar accessories!

While there was no tea at the so-called tea party (there was no tea =P), we had the most delicious cakes! Plus some free cleansing oil and cute place-marker.

Kanon looked lovely and was so cute. It was so nice of her to agree to come and answer some of our questions...my heart beat so fast! These were my delightful table buddies, Clare and Kyra:

With Kanon! My face is so happy-derp haha:

And all of us together with Kanon! (Photo by Saoirse Clohessy Photography)

Afterwards I found Rob again and we looked around the stalls. I ended up buying 2 Chibi Vampire novels and a Cardcaptor Sakura manga from the Tokyopop stall that day, as well as acquiring a number of cards and leaflets. I also picked up a Hangry & Angry keychain - I was reluctant to pay £4 for a keychain, but it's really cute and it was the last of that type there.

Irritatingly there was nowhere to get free water, so we had to buy expensive cans of Diet Coke. For tea we had Yo! Sushi which was going cheap at the end of the day...so yummy. And we had blueberry Pocky for when we got back to the hotel OMNOM.

After meeting up with our hotel group (Aisha, Vicki, Kai, Rai, Rob and myself) we went back to the hotel for check-in...but we weren't all in the same room despite us changing which nights we were staying so we could be grouped together. They wouldn't move the other so we had to be separate. I didn't mind too much, but their policy made no sense - surely you'd fill up rooms before putting people in new ones, and you'd try to keep groups together? Apparently not.

So there's my summary of 22nd July! Hope it wasn't too boring to read ^_^'

Oh and if anyone finds blogs or pictures of the event please link me! I want to see everything!

Lolita 30 ~ Day 29 ~ Lolita I'd Like To Meet

Day 29 – A picture of a lolita you would love to meet for real.

No one in particular...I'm happy to meet anyone!

Although I should be meeting Kanon Wakeshima this weekend, which is pretty exciting.

But then I'll also be meeting many other lolitas too!

I will be at Hyper Japan for the weekend, so the last challenge item will be posted when I get, hopefully with lots of pictures and happy things to write about!

Wednesday 20 July 2011

Lolita 30 ~ Day 28 ~ Lolita Location

Day 28 – A picture of the perfect lolita location.

The palace of Versailles!

I'd love to go there some day, it's so over the top and beautiful, plus it's full of history!

I'd love to wear a Rococo gown someday too...I hope I get a chance to!

As for locally, I think my city is perfect for a lolita to stroll around! However, the locals seem not to think so and the tourists just treat you like a tourist attraction D= but many of the streets are such that you can imagine ladies of times past in their finery strolling in the sun.

The iconic Royal Crescent~

Loltia 30 ~ Day 27 ~ Lolita Song

Day 27 – One song that fits your favorite lolita style.

...Music is music. Fashion is fashion. Stop trying to make me match up the two because they don't. I love sweet lolita and I listen mostly to light rock music, they don't exactly match up. And besides, I made a whole post where I struggled to pick lolita-esque songs already!

Heh sorry I'm in a bad mood as I seem to be tired constantly and my mum is getting on my nerves. She said she'd buy me a tattoo for my birthday...my birthday was 5 months ago. Everytime I bring it up she's all like 'LOL BUT U NO LYK NEEDLES' even though I hate jabs because they're unnecessary and I hate the needle going into muscle and the pain of when they squeeze the liquid into you. That's nothing like a tattoo. Then she says 'U NO HANDLE PAIN' and it's like bitch, please. She has no idea =/ I can't even say why but I'm sure it's pretty obvious. I just want my fucking tattoo and I'm not spending my own money on it when I'm owed. And she's just a cow anyway. I have no freedom and I'm not allowed to do anything. I'm sure I'll get kicked offline soon enough, but I'm not allowed to play video games or read either, and I live in the middle of nowhere with no friends. So god knows what she expects me to do (oh work probably, despite there being no jobs and I don't bloody need or want to).

There are other things bugging me right now but I really can't write about that...and I have no one to talk to. So forgive me if I'm going a little mad.

Ehem. I also got to see Deathly Hallows Pt. II last night. I thought it was really good! Though young Lily's eyes were BROWN which naturally caused me to gesticulate in a silent 'Y UR EYES NO GREEN?!' for a few minutes. I also realised I was kinda in denial before...I am sad it's over! The series has been a part of my life for the last 12 or so years!

I got a theme outfit together in the end too, but didn't get a photo. Black tee, tights and boots with blue tutu skirt, nail varnish, eyeshadow and pendant. And my temporary tattoo!

I was the only person there in house colours though...I thought more people would dress up! But apparently not ^_^'

Lolita 30 ~ Day 26 ~ Facebook Photo

Day 26 – Your Facebook profile picture.

I've been meaning to change it, but have no nice pictures of myself so I haven't xP

Off to see the new Harry Potter movie later! Trying to figure out a themed outfit...but I don't have anything! I'm a Ravenclaw and I've only found 2 blue things in my entire wardrobe and can't really make an outfit. In fact, I only have green stuff...but I don't want to go as a smelly Slytherin =/ bahaha.

Lolita 30 ~ Day 25 ~ Lolita Artwork

Day 25 – Your favorite lolita themed artwork.

...er, what? They're just clothes, and while I may be more involved than I ever have been with other styles I still don't stalk everything slightly lolita-related.

So I'm just going to say prints count, my favourite being Sugary Carnival.

This challenge is now almost over, which is a shame as I'll have very little to post about...but I'll be glad to stop spamming you guys!

Saturday 16 July 2011

Lolita 30 ~ Day 24 ~ Lolita Meet

Day 24 – A picture of you from a meet.

Only just realised how odd-one-out I am, being the only person in dark colours!

I've only been to 2 proper meets, I hope to go to more though! So disappointed that I miss the Bristol Zoo meet again this year...if I can't go to it next year too I shall cry! But I shuld get to meet lots of lovely ladies at Hyper Japan next weekend!

Friday 15 July 2011

Lolita 30 ~ Day 23 ~ Handwriting

Day 23 – A picture of your handwriting.

My preliminary packing list for Hyper Japan!

I have really recognisable handwriting...mainly as I don't use lower-case t! I think my handwriting looks nice, but is really hard to read. Pretty, but not practical. Which just about sums up what lolita is as well =P

Thursday 14 July 2011

Lolita 30 ~ Day 23 ~ My Room

Day 22 – A picture of your room.

In my defence, my old bedroom was way bigger than this one, I never used to have a double bed (and I really don't need one) and of course I'd moved away for university. So I now have 2 rooms worth of stuff crammed into one smallish room (with some rather drastic overspill into my bf's room baha).

I'm in the middle of sorting through my wardrobes trying to get rid of clothes, but that's gonna take a few rounds of sorting. I've also shoved all my unpacked junk in one place from when I sorted out the first wardrobe. I haven't gotten any further than that!

This is far from my dream bedroom anyway. I'd wanted the teal all the way around, or some aubergine walls. Despite my mum saying I coud have whatever I wanted, surprise surprise I wasn't allowed. And so I have this crappy blue colour for most of my room, even though it isn't my kind of colour at all and I don't really like it =/ I also hate the wood (so orange D=) but wasn't allowed to varnish it darker. Grr.

Wednesday 13 July 2011

Lolita 30 ~ Day 21 ~ Fictional Lolita

Day 21 – Your favorite fictional lolita.

...To be honest I don't know that many actual lolitas. If I was to pick a vaguely lolita styled one, it would have to be Cardcaptor Sakura! But yeah, she isn't a lolita...but some of her costumes are lolita-esque.

So I suppose I shall have to be boring and say Momoko. I do like her as she reminds me of me (not that that is a good thing). I love the book of Shimotsuma Monogatari also, so I love the way 'she' writes too.

I also like Anju from Karin/Chibi Vampire, but her dub character puts me off saying she's my favourite (seriously, the voices in the dub were SO TERRIBLE).

Sales: Shoes

Going through a massive clear out of my stuff which is happening in several stages (I am a hoarder, I hate getting rid of anything and some of my stuff I'd rather sell than give away, so I'm probably going to be sticking up several posts like this...and will need to keep going through my stuff again and again to dwindle it down).

I have feedback here.

Feel free to make offers, ask questions and request more pictures if interested. These will be taken to a charity in a couple of weeks, so be swift!

Selling as I never wear these things anymore or because they don't fit. Most have been worn only a couple of times and mostly indoors unless otherwise specified.

Better shoes are at bottom (including some Angelic Pretty!), so please scroll down!

Various sizes (mainly UK3-5), I've listed the size I feel that they fit like as well as marked size as some of them are very off! If the difference in sizes is small though, you might want to go by the marked size. I am about a UK4.25 (awkward!) for reference, that's why I can't be sure of fit!

Prices include shipping to the UK (for most of these the postage will cost at least £3, so please bear that in mind when making offers!). Paypal payment preferred.

1. Black boots with gold zip deco, large 4 (marked 5), Primark, heels very scuffed - £10
2. Gold point pumps, large 4 (marked 5), George - £7
3. Sparkle pumps, size 5 (small in width and depth, can probably be stretched out), Barratts - £10
4. Buckle pumps, size 4, QS - £7

5. Hot pink canvas shoes, size 4 (marked 5), Claire's - £7
6. Floral wedges, fit like small 4 (marked 3), Next - £10
7. Cow Print canvas shoes, size 4, Next, very comfortable but dirty (will scrub before sending) - £7

8. Purple pumps, size 4.5 (marked 5), Rocketdog, VERY spongey and comfy inside (wish I could keep, but bit too big) - £15
9. Red heels, size 5 (marked as a 6 but they aren't that massive on me...but too big to keep), Blu (Mastershoe) - £20
10. Purple heels, size 4.5 (marked 5), QS, unworn - £10
11. BlackXWhite pumps, generous 4 (marked 3), Underground UK - £10
12. Hot pink check canvas shoes, size 3, Office, unworn - £15

Black patent bow shoes, size 4 (marked 5), Hongsiyu, slight crumpling of heel area - £25

Blue wedges, Japanese size S (in this case about a 3, fine for smaller too, but definitely too small for me), Angelic Pretty - £75

Heart ankle strap sandals, size 3 (can't remember what marked as, but completely wrong), marked as Vivienne Westwood but suspected fake, relisting due to unpaying bidder - £45

Items will be shipped out as quickly as possible, but please bear in mind that there is no post office in my village, I can't drive and there are no buses! But rest assured I'll get them posted somehow, probably using my minions.

Lolita 30 ~ Day 20 ~ Lolita Friend

Day 20 – A picture of a lolita friend.

Bexy! She was the first lolita I met IRL...I remember once standing by her at the bus stop freaking out silently as she was wearing Bodyline shoes!...but I was too shy to say anything that time xP

We haven't been able to go to a meet together yet, but I hope we do soon. Her style is awesome and I'd love to twin with her someday!

Sunday 10 July 2011

Lolita 30 ~ Day 19 ~ Lolita Make

Day 19 – What’s in your make-up bag?

...make-up? DUH haha.

I have 2 bags, one with everything shoved in (and hanging out) and another which contains make-up I'm going to use. I switch the stuff in it around depending on what I'm likely to need for whatever occasion. That said, there's always a mascara in there and I very rarely use it!

I'll spare you a photo as it's pretty boring...at the moment it contains black mascara, an eyeshadow palette (pale pink, gold and gold-black), eyeshadow brush, teal eyeshadow, 3 eyeliners (white, black and teal) and some teal nailpolish.

When I go to Hyper Japan it'll contain black and blue mascaras, my eyeshadow palette, sparkly eyeshadow, pink eyeshadow, possibly a blue one too for blending, my eyeshadow brush, Hello Kitty blush, lipgloss, black and white eyeliners, shimmer stick, Hello Kitty mirror and pink or white nailpolish. Probably some perfume too.

And that's pretty much all the different make-up I use, except sometime purple or black eyeshadow and many MANY different nailpolishes!

Saturday 9 July 2011

Lolita 30 ~ Day 18 ~ Lolita Substyle

Day 18 – A picture of your favorite lolita style.

Eeeeeh that's so hard! I love pretty much all of the substyles! But I suppose I'll go for what I wear most, the style I fell for first - sweet lolita.

While I also like OTT, I prefer a more subdued modern sweet. The wig in this photo is a little too much, but that's just my personal taste (and the fact that I'm really lazy with my own hair).

Friday 8 July 2011

Lolita 30 ~ Day 17 ~ Lolita Want

Day 17 – What do you want more than anything right now?

Well, lolita-wise I want Chess Chocolate!

Yes, unsurprisingly my opinions have changed since I made my last post on it.

Thinking of trying for the skirt, but not sure. I want the green but I'd have nothing to match, whereas pink would be a safer option. I love the military style JSK but the lack of border print is a shame =[ The OP is ugly though. Sorry, it just is =P

Well I suppose the normal JSK or skirt in any colour other than the cream (which reminds me of sweetcorn) would be nice. But I think it's already all reserved up so I'll have a hard time getting anything.

And as for the parallels with Melty Chocolate and Antique Clock...it reminds me more of Starry Night Theater in an odd way. Anyone else have thoughts on that?

Wednesday 6 July 2011

Foo Fighters, 3rd July 2011

You may not have noticed, but I was actually away from over the weekend and only returned yesterday (I scheduled posts...sneaky mwahahaha).

On Sunday I went to the Milton Keynes Bowl to see the Foo Fighters! It was a very long day out, but luckily the weather was warm. We stupidly left the suncream in the car so we were glad that the sun only came out for a little while. I still got pretty burnt though D=

I didn't take my camera as I didn't want to risk it being confiscated (although everyone else got let in with theirs...why do they print these things on the tickets if they don't mean it?). I got a few blurry photos with my iPhone though.

The view I had! The guy stood up in the photo was really cute, and he looked like Matt Bellamy *drool* but I couldn't stalk a better picture unfortunately. Plus he didn't take his sunglasses off the whole time, even when it got dark...but I go mad for reflective sunglasses baha.

I thought the waiting would be boring, but it was fine as I was quite happy to sit in the warm people-watching. I probably should have gone to find Katie who was also there, but I was worried about getting lost. The journey to the portaloos was rather treacherous, I felt like the shortest person in the world. The only bad thing about the day was my hayfever, which made my whole head burn whenever I breathed. And turns out the reason it was bad all day was because of the idiots in front who chain-smoked through the whole day! Eventually it stopped as my nostrils switched (lol) but I had to turn away during the performance when they lit up to avoid it coming back =/ If only I hadn't had that pain, I could have gone into the crowds and danced and had much more fun, but it was too painful. If I was the kind of person to faint or get nose bleeds I surely would have from the heat in my head, but alas. I just suffered in silence haha.

The first band were okay although I don't have a clue who they were xP The DJ dude between the acts was dire. He wasn't even DJing, just changing CDs and he only played one good song the whole time. The second act was Jimmy Eat World, who I actually saw last time I was at that venue (for Green Day). Neither of my parents recognised any of their songs which frustrated me as at least 4 of the songs they played got radio play when they were released, and we had Futures on in the car for at least 2 weeks when we went to the Cotswolds. Okay, that was 5 years ago, but I generally recognise songs after one hearing so after 2 or 3 hearings I'd never forget them D=

Then there was Biffy Clyro, which was the only reason mum agreed to come (even though she moaned all day about it being outdoors and stuff which is annoying as Rob really likes the Foos and would have enjoyed it much more!). They were good too, although I thought they were better when I saw them last. I want a 'mon the biff' tee, they're so cool!

And then Foo Fighters! I'm not a big fan, but I'll definitely borrow some of their CDs now as they were really good. I also knew most of the songs which was great =D Though we left before the encore to beat the rush out of the car park which was sad, but we did have a 2 hour journey back to the hospice so it was a wise decision.

Now I'm really wanting to go to another outdoor venue. I'm now even more desperate to go to Reading festival. Was tempted to just grab a ticket and go, but I'd be too vulnerable if by myself and no one else seems to be going. So frustrating! I want to see Muse and Frank Turner D=
